Letter to Monkey
Monkey,
it has been raining here since we got back from the beach last weekend so we haven’t really been able to play outside. yesterday i got sick of seeing my sweet boy have to play inside so much with such an outdoor spirit. so you grabbed your poncho and rain boots and we went outside. i let you get as dirty asyou felt like. i let you lead. throwing rocks into mud puddles and stomping and splashing water and mud everywhere, including on me. but i didn’t mind being dirty. not one bit. i would let you play in the mud every day if it meant that i could see you smile like that. i am so glad that you are learning early that even though mud is dirty it is fun and it can be washed off. there is a very valuable life lesson here son. always know that life can get dirty. it can get very messy. and it can even get that way because of other people and other circumstances out of your control. just know that mud washes off. God takes care of his children and those who take care of His word. All you need to ever know  can be found in His word. take comfort in knowing that circumstances out of your control are never out of His control. always love everyone. even your enemies, because God loves you. forgive everyone, even your enemies, because God forgives you. when it rains in your life and causes a mess like mud always know that you have a choice. you can play in it and still smile or you can stay inside and not enjoy the whole world that God gave you to enjoy. i hope to be around long enough to show you the right choice here. we love you Monkey.
